Types Of Washbasins

Washbasins provide several benefits for any bathroom. They can be very functional and serve as the perfect place to store many things such as towels, soap, shampoo, and body wash. A quality washbasin will also look beautiful in your bathroom. The following are some types of washbasins

1. PEDESTAL WASHBASIN

A pedestal washbasin is usually mounted on legs. It can also be mounted to the wall with a counterweighted hinge so that it swings up and out of the way when not in use. A pedestal sink has one, two, three, or four legs for support. The pedestal washbasin is mainly used for freestanding basins and is usually utilized in the bathroom but can also be found on some kitchen countertops.

2. CONSOLE OR SEMI-CONSOLE SINK

A console sink has a small platform on which it rests, with two long legs that run parallel underneath. It is typically mounted to a wall or cabinet. A semi-console sink has a thinner platform, often with one leg that runs from end to end underneath. It can also be mounted in the same way as a console sink.

3. VESSEL SINK

A vessel sink sits on top of a countertop, usually supported by a pedestal. It is enclosed by a pedestal or countertop around the edges. It has no overflow, so it does not require a drain. Vessel sinks are usually made from glass, ceramic, stone, or metal.

4. CONSOLE-STYLE SINK

A console-style sink has an elongated platform on which it rests with three legs that run parallel to each other underneath. The console sink is similar in design to the semi-console Sink, but it rests on a more comprehensive platform than its legs. It usually has an overflow and can be mounted like a console or semi-console Sink.

5. DOUBLE BASIN SINK

A double basin sink features two basins separated by either a partial or an entire wall. These sinks are usually mounted to the countertop and placed side by side or on top of the other. A double basin sink can be made from stone, porcelain, acrylic, glass, cast iron, and copper.

6. DROP-IN SINK

A drop-in sink is placed into a cutout on a countertop. It is usually rectangular or square and does not have an overflow. Drop-in sinks are also called self-rimming sinks because the upper edge of the Sink’s platform overlaps the top surface to conceal exposed plumbing.
